Last day in February ends with rainy greyness and snow melt
and a few flakes of new snow as shown in this photo.

While Hannah is wearing shorts, taking hikes and going to barbecues in San Antonio....
The orchids and cactus gaze out at their hardier cousins.
The paparazzi come a-calling.

Heading up from downtown on Lake Shore Drive, I stopped to admire
the blueness. This X is either negating the scene or you should
get out your shovel...this is where the treasure lies....

After a sunny snow-melting 60 degrees yesterday... today brings accumulating inches which are being redistributed due to high winds. So some spots are bald and others calf-deep. This is our mailbox, repainted last fall, beat up in multiple ways...
and now sitting on the abyss.
We are doing some renovations on our house to make it more energy efficient. One of the jobs on the list is to tear apart the bathroom wall behind the shower and add new installation. So that means we are replacing the shower also. In the truck there are some boxes on a pallet which contain our new shower enclosure. The fed-ex woman is going to lift the pallet with the dolly, wheel it to the end of the truck where it will power down to the road. Now it’s in our driveway... I was able to move the 2 lighter boxes into the garage, but the very heavy glass is immovable except by a team of oxen.
I crossed the street to get the mail and this boy whom I’ve never seen before called out to me. I couldn’t hear him so I walked over and he showed me his new pocket knife which he was using to whittle some sticks....or spears as he called them. Then his father came out, so I didn’t want to ask if I could take a picture. Later I strolled by and captured this long view, complete with chimney smoke, two red vehicles, prominent flag, and wood pallets resting against a fence.
I swear I didn’t monkey around with this image.
That is a ghost, unseen while I was standing in the hail, but as clear as day in this photo. The graves mark a couple hundred people who died in the 1800s, though there is one from 1794. Babies, teens, the medium and the very old are all represented. If I had to guess, I would say that this is the ghost of Mary Ann Hagin, died Sept 4, 1873 at 78 year, 1 month. I wonder if she is the great grandmother of our neighbor Roger Hagin!
Asbury Cemetery (http://nytompki.org/cemeteries/tcem051.htm)
is about a 1.5 miles from our house on Asbury Road.

Sun came out, turned into a glorious but cold day. When it is this bright, everything outside looks brilliant. Today I had the chance to drive about 30 miles from home. I stopped every now and again and waved my camera in front of random icy fields and this graveyard in Scipio Center.
This is my weather vane...right now the winds are blowing from the northeast.
Today our hiking group hiked the forest off of Monkey Run Rd. And here I was treated to a whizzing, cyclone-like, back-forth running black poodle named Mocha. In between gallops and leaps, she uncharacteristically pauses on the trail.
Drawing on paved snowy path created by a little warm temperature.

I often end of reading at the dining room table, but it is much more comfortable on the couch. A new New Yorker plus Eating Animals is what’s on the agenda for tonight.
I took this photo on the sly and thus a little out of focus...here is my spanish teacher shown at the beginning of class 2. Gustavo looks very professorial behind the table, but he is funny and relaxed which makes learning easy. I’m glad I studied and practiced my spanish before I signed up for a class....because I understand everything this way!
Another day in the life of....hey, what is that furry chapeau doing on our couch?
I’m proud of myself for waiting this long before I relented and photographed Kitcat. This is a good example of how animals change color to blend into the environment. When Kitcat is out in the snow she turns white and under the daylilies,
her fur gets a kind of greenish cast.

Today is sunday and a wonderful day to take a hike. The snow dresses up the woods giving it great energy and light. Here is Steven, getting into position to photograph some oncoming hikers. The anonymous tail belongs to Carol’s dog.
Wet snow in the driveway.
My job is to get these crime-ridden dishes
off the counters and into lock-up where they belong!

This photo is a shout-out to Asa, the year-round picnic-lover and Steven H. who imagines this is all I eat (at least there’s ketchup) and all you green smoothie drinkers, on and off the wagon. Martha Stewart food stylists take note!
What do you do when you’ve had your nose to the computer version of a grindstone all day and now it is 9:30 at night and you haven’t shot your daily photo? Well if it was me, I would go outside to our extremely well-lit yard and take off my outer clothes!

Today an overnight snow dump put Ithaca’s cars in a tizzy.
Margaret, happily, is making her way by foot. In an empty Green Star parking lot,
I have a nice chat with her about various photo projects she is contemplating.
